Anton Berg Sævarsson

About me

My name is Anton Berg Sævarsson and was raised in Eskifjörður. I graduated as a carpenter with an additional student from the East Iceland Vocational School and am currently studying economics at Reykjavík University. I plan to move back home after graduation and believe it is important that more young people from the Eastfjords see the same future for themselves - that Fjarðabyggð is a realistic and exciting option for living, working and starting a family.

I have long been actively involved in community affairs. I am the second vice-chairman of the Union of Young Independents, chairman of Hávarr – the association of young independents in Fjarðabyggð – and was the chairman of the Fjarðabyggð Youth Council in 2019–2020. I have also worked in the municipality's community centers and actively participated in sports activities, which has given me good insight into the conditions and opportunities of children and young people in Fjarðabyggð .

I am running because I want to contribute to the continued development of Fjarðabyggð In particular, I want to work towards improved opportunities for young people, strong sports and youth work, and a society where more people see a future in which to live and work.

Fjarðabyggð is doing well with a strong employment base, good services for families with children and a strong community. Now we need to continue on that path and create even more opportunities for the next generation. I want to emphasize responsible financial management, continued development of the business sector and services, and a clear vision for the future of our municipality.

My goal is to work with integrity for the community I grew up in and take an active part in shaping the future of Fjarðabyggð – a community where it is good to grow up, live and return home to.
