Let's move forward on a strong foundation
Lower

We intend to reduce property taxes on commercial properties in Fjarðabyggð to increase competitiveness and attract new projects to the municipality. The reduction will take effect immediately at the turn of the year.
Better operations
Continued debt reduction
The municipality's debt is still too high and interest payments are too high a proportion of expenses. We intend to continue paying down debt so that the funds can be used within the municipality.
Out with the unnecessary
Managing the finances of the town is not a task we take lightly. We continue to take action, prioritize tasks, and demonstrate responsibility. It is not an effort, but a continuous task that must never be stopped.
Open accounting this year
We started work on opening the accounts of Fjarðabyggð because we believe in complete transparency in the handling of the town's finances. We plan to complete that work as early as this year so that everyone can see where the money is going. That way, everyone can exercise restraint.
More economical purchasing
We will coordinate municipal procurement, tighten procurement oversight, and ensure clear accountability to achieve better terms, increased transparency, and more targeted use of tax dollars.
Increased follow-up of projects
We tighten project follow-up with clear contracts, regular monitoring, and division of responsibilities, to ensure that projects stay within time and cost estimates.
Load met with purchased services
We intend to provide a consistent service that residents can rely on. Temporary pressure and waiting lists will be eliminated by purchasing services when needed. With flexible administration, the municipality's money is used much better, residents can rely on the service and the workload of employees is more predictable and stable.
We deliver improved operations to the residents
By improving the operation of the municipality, we can increase investments and scope for necessary maintenance of properties and outdoor areas and ensure lower taxes for residents immediately and in the future. Reliable operation of the municipality is a basic prerequisite for being able to advance in all areas.
