Friðrik Júlíus Josephson

Friðrik Júlíus Jósefsson ranks 6th on the Independence Party's list in Fjarðabyggð . Friðrik is 26 years old and lives in Stöðvarfjörður. He grew up there but then moved north to Akureyri and attended the Akureyri Vocational School where he obtained a journeyman's certificate in carpentry. 

After five years of both school and work in Akureyri, his nerves back home in Stöðvarfjörður had grown stronger and he moved back home in 2020 and started working in the Alcoa Fjarðaál boiler house. His plans were to work over the summer and then go abroad and establish himself there. But the pandemic prevented that, so he enrolled in a degree program in Construction Engineering at Reykjavík University and pursued it alongside a full-time job at Alcoa.

After a good three years in Stöðvarfjörður, working at Alcoa and graduating from RU, his mind did not turn to the world, but to his hometown. This is where he wants to put down his roots. In Stöðvarfjörður, in Fjarðabyggð So he put everything he had into it and founded Stöðfirzka byggingafélagið ehf. in 2023 and is running it successfully. Friðrik believes that it is of immense importance for the smaller settlements of the municipality that if an individual has the resilience and ambition to lift their local community up through work and effort, then it is their social duty to step up and make their contribution.

After returning home, Friðrik He has held various positions of trust. He took over the role of treasurer of the Súlan Association from his father, sat on the board of the KFA for one winter as a board member from a member association, is on the board of the residents' association in Stöðvarfjörður, is a part-time firefighter in Stöðvarfjörður and is vice-chairman of the Hávarr association of young independents in Fjarðabyggð .

Friðrik presents itself with the vision of strengthening cooperation between the communities of Fjarðabyggð, responsible decision-making in planning and finances, we can continue to build a stronger and more powerful community here in Fjarðabyggð He also believes that it is key that the municipality creates the conditions where young people see an advantage in settling here, returning home after completing their studies, or moving here to work. Friðrik wants to contribute to ensuring that all residential areas have good opportunities - both for young and promising people as well as all other residents of the municipality.
