Kristinn Þór Jónasson

I am Kristinn Þór Jónasson and lives in Eskifjörður, is a service manager for Eimskip at Mjóeyrarhöfn in Reyðarfjörður, and has two sons who are 21 and 26 years old.

I am running because I believe Fjarðabyggð have a lot to offer when it comes to growth and improved quality of life for the residents, and I want to work for our community, improve and strengthen it for the future. We need to show increased ambition in tourism, innovation, and greater diversity of jobs in the business world, improve transportation, support and encourage kids to participate in sports, leisure and social activities, but the declining interest of children in these is a major concern that needs to be taken seriously.

I am very busy assisting, guiding and being involved in launching projects that increase and improve the diversity and quality of the residents of Fjarðabyggð in jobs, sports, leisure, entertainment and culture in the area, and I myself am one of the founders of the Austra Electronic Sports Department, the Holunn Orchestra/Recording Facility, the East Iceland Sailing Club, the Town Festival Útsæðið, Valhöll Cinema, and I am also on the boards of the Friends of Valhalla, the Eskifjörður Fishermen's Day Council, the BigJump Skiing Festival, the Eskifjörður Forestry Association, as well as being a member of the Friends of Oddsskarður Association.
My main hobbies are photography, hiking in the mountains, all kinds of water sports and grilling... and working on the popcorn machine in Valhöll.
