I have decided to place myself on the Independence Party's list in Fjarðabyggð , in 18th place. I do so for a simple reason; I want to put my weight in the balance to support the good work that has been done under the leadership of the party and the continued development of society.
When Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn went to the majority in 2024, the situation was anything but simple. It is not a given to take over the reins of government when half of the term has passed and the tasks are complete. It was also not an ideal situation. But when others had failed, they stepped forward and took responsibility.
It has been successful.
With responsibility, determination and passion for the community, we have managed to turn the business around, strengthen the foundation and create space for development. It is not a given, it is the result of focused work and clear leadership.
I know from the business world how important it is to have a solid operation and a clear strategy. It is a prerequisite for being able to grow and build for the future. That approach has characterized the work of the majority in Fjarðabyggð and that is a path I want to support.
The opportunities in Fjarðabyggð are enormous. Here are natural conditions that create diverse employment opportunities and a strong foundation for value creation. It has been right to look at these opportunities with determination and ambition.
These include increased emphasis on the development of related oil exploration and production in the Dreki area, further development of salmon farming and further processing of seafood products, as well as targeted development of port facilities to strengthen our competitive position in freight transport for the future. These are large and important projects that can have a decisive impact on the development of society.
We must not lose sight of this.
We are not at the end of the road. We are in the middle of a river, but we are on the right path.
It is important to continue with the same determination, with a clear vision and a will to build a stronger society. I want to contribute to that project.
